Bill to legalise cannabis export

Must read

A Bill to legalise the export of medical cannabis will be presented in Parliament in three months, Indigenous Medicine Promotion, Rural and Ayurvedic Hospitals Development, and Community Health State Minister Sisira Jayakody told Parliament yesterday.

“High quality medical cannabis can be used to treat cancer, neuro diseases, mental disorders, as a painkiller and also in the beauty culture industry. But it was banned when we were under British rule,” Jayakody said.

“There has been clinical evidence of the benefits of this plant. We must remember that cancer and other major diseases have also been treated with Kansa,” Jayakody said. He also said that medical cannabis and its by-products have been used for the treatment of COVID-19 patients.
