Sri Lanka records two wins over Malaysia and England

Sri Lanka men’s Kabaddi team led by Lahiru Sampath performed well to beat Malaysia and England to secure a semi final spot at the second Bangabandu Cup International Kabaddi tournament which is now in progress at the Shaheed Noor Hossain National Volleyball Stadium Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka defeated Malaysia by 53-26 while they beat England more comfortably 44-19 at their league round matches. Sri Lankan Aslam Raja and L.Thanushan were able to win the Man of the Match awards at this two winning games. Sri Lanka was scheduled to play their third league game against Bangladesh yesterday.

The participating countries are holders Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and England, who form the Group A line-up while last edition’s runner-up Kenya, Nepal, Asian powerhouse Iraq and Indonesia are pitted against each other in Group B.

This tournament is good exposure for the Sri Lankan players before the Asian Games. The top two teams from both groups will advance to the semifinals which will be held on 23rd while final of this tournament is scheduled to be played on 24th (Thursday).
