Sri Lankan 400m hurdler who won several medals at international events and national women’s champion athlete Kaushalya Madushani has committed suicide in her residence in Dummalasuriya last morning, police suspect.
She had been found dead at her residence in Thorabichchiya, Dummalasuriya around 11.00 a.m. yesterday.
Born on December 13, 1995, the twenty-six year old Madushani had won the Gold Medal at the National Sports Festival in 2016, National Championships Gold Medal and the best women hurdler in 2016, Bronze medal at the South Asian Games in 2016 and the Silver medal at the Asian Junior Championships in 2014.
She competed in the 400m hurdles event representing the Sri Lanka Army.
She is a past pupil of Kuliyapitiya Central College.
Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
